Default gear shift button popped off my 2004, easy fix?

hey, its my first post and my first olds. does anyone know how to repair and ease of access to parts?

The shifter can be removed by pulling the staple that holds it to the shaft. The staple is on the front side, about 4 inches down from the top, just pull it out with some pliers. The shift **** will slide right off then.
I'm not sure about getting the parts for the inside, you may be better off pulling a whole new **** at a junkyard.

I'm broke about 5 years ago, I just super glued it. You can get a new one at a dealership for about 25 bucks though.

Mine came off somehow and what I did was took a plastic coat hanger. Cut a section of it approximately 4 inches long. Put that in the button and put that in the shifter. Interestingly enough it works remarkably well.
