where is the thermostat on a 2000 alero 2.4L
 

I need to replace the thermostat on my 2000 alero, 2.4L engine. Some people say it is under the engine on the passenger side, and others say follow the upper radiator hose to the engine and it is there. Who is correct?

In the tube below the water pump.
