2004 Alero, won't start

So I came out the other morning to go run some errands and tried to start my Alero and turn the key, all the dash lights and the radio work, but it won't even try to turn-over.

The battery was the original from factory, and had given me some problems over the winter, so I replaced that and the car still will not even try to start.

I'm thinking the starter solenoid could be bad, or the ignition switch. If it is the starter I can replace that myself, I don't know about the ignition switch. At least I don't need it to get to and from work so I have sometime to try and figure this out.

Any thoughts on what else I should check before I have it towed to the Mechanic?

Thanks,

Automatic? Try starting in Neutral. Stick? I think the safety switch is on the clutch.
Crank fuse (I think #54 10A) in underhood fuse box.
Starter relay in underhood fuse box.

Thanks, it is an automatic, tried starting in neutral and still no crank. I will try and check the fuses and the relay.

So I read one of the documents in the passkey thread and tried the how it said to program the system if you had replaced the PCM or BCM.

So what I did was put the key in the ignition turn it to on and try and start it. Then leave the key in the on position for 10 minutes.

The thing I read said to do it 3 times and it would make the PCM and the BCM talk and check that they have the same info.

Well after waiting 10 minutes and then turning the car off and waiting a minute the car started right up.

I let it run for about 10 minutes and then turned it off and used the spare key and it started back up again.

Going to have some dinner and try it again, and then again in the morning.

But it looks like I got it working.
