Default 1999 Alero V6 3.4 problems @4000 rpm's

The car runs very good while driving it but when in park and I accelerate it to reaching 4000 rpm's it nerver goes past and it goes back to 3000 rpm's back and forward .... Could it be the fuel filter or fuel pump? Any suggestions? Much appreciate any help.

Nothing wrong with your car. Its a rev limiter, so you don't blow your motor. Does the same thing in neutral.

You don't need to rev your engine that high.

It isn't a problem. The PCM starts limiting fuel at 4000 rpm in park or neutral to protect the engine. You should not be revving it that high when not in drive.

At the moment I think I'll be happy if it starts.I believe the ignition switch is the problem as I have to spray it with Jig A Loo {like W-40} to get fuel pump relay going or else it just makes Morse Code sounds.I guess power is not getting to the relay properly.

The engine will rev to 7000RPM under FULL LOAD and I should worry about 4000RPM with NO LOAD?? No logic from GM again. As for the ignition switch put 8oz. of SWITCH CLEANER in the lock after that put an ALL METAL brand NEW key in the lock and HAMMER it IN with a screwdriver handle. ALWAYS PUSH the key IN while you are turning it. I don't know how long it will work but it should give you time to buy a HONDA!
