Default 1971 442 enignes??

I have a 1971 cutlass supreme convertible. I have researched some engine specs and have found that all 442's in 1971 had a 455. Is this true was the 455 the only engine available in a 1971 442

71 I don't know I know in 70 that was true but in 72 you could get a 350.

in '72 442 was an option on any Cutlass/S/Supreme.

in '71 442 was still it's own model and I believe 455 was the standard engine

Yes, 1971 is the last year that the 442 was considered it's own car. In '72 it was "demoted" to an option package on a Cutlass and you had to order the 455 separately.

Yes, only 455 in 70 and 71. The 442 was an option package for 72 cutlass so a 350 or 455 was available.
