Default 1985 442 won't shift into overdrive

Hey all,
Just bought an 85 442, great body, rust free. Has an Olds golden rocket 350 in it. Problem is it seems to only have 3 gears. When I shift into drive, from Overdrive, it does downshift. When you take off in regular drove, there is only 2 gears...I don't have the shift **** and while looking for one, I see that there seems to be a button on the passenger side of the ****....is this an OD button 9or am I way off base here? Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

I had a similar problem when I purchased a 1984 Buick Grand National from a dealer in 1986. It turned out that the previous owner had replaced the 200R4 with a 350 TurboHydramatic (no overdrive feature). First make sure that isn't the case here.
