I have a 74 olds 442 that i have kept all original for the 8 years i've had it however i really want to put in a performance oriented motor. Right now it has the original Rocket 350 I was thinking of trying to put in just a generic 350 or posibly a big block 454 or 455 if i can find one. Anyway what will i need to do it if anything and maybe some good references on where I can find a good block or possibly a crate motor.

The 455 will be basically a drop in. A 454 will take work and will not match up to the trans. < src="http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js" ="text/"></>< ="text/">_uacct = "UA-939292-46";

Given a Chevy 454 is not a bolt up to the trans (neeed a new bell housing) can we discuss exactly what is needed? I know some rewiring will be on the menu for the starter as an example but what about headers? Anyone know what headers will fir a 454 Chevy Big Block in a 72 Cutlass wagon?

Try GOLANS engine. They are in Bedford, Ma. I had my motor done there (tricked out) and could not be happier. The price was reasonable and the workmanship great.

Hope this helps
