01 Alero Overheating Update, please read again

I have done some more investigation and here is what I have found. Double checked the thermostat and it is working properly. I keep cap off fill tank, start the car, open air bleed valve and turn heater on full blast. Let car idle and add coolant as it gets low and the air bleeds. Was able to get the air bleed to run nothing but coolant out of it for a couple minutes. Closed the air bleed. Checked the heat inside the car and it was minimal at best. Not really all that hot. Went back around the front of the car and the resevoir is overflowing and bubbling. So I cracked the air bleed again and this time all I get is air. No fluid at all. I let it continue like this for about 5 mins and could never get fluid out the air bleed. Car started trending to the hot side so I turned it off and came in to look for help. Still no white smoke or milky oil. Any ideas?

Can anyone help out on this?

It sounds like you had air trapped in your heater core. Keep up the bleed thing. No heat on the inside means not much coolant (or low flow) in the heater core.

Keep bleeding it. Sometimes you have to drive a little bit, bleed, drive, bleed etc. for a few days. One sign that you still have air is a gurgling sound behind the dash after you shut the car off.
