I have a 2000 Alero with 24,000 miles (bought it from my grandmother in law). After bringing it home, the "service vehicle soon" light came on. After checking the codes and searching internet, the BCM was suspect. However that code disappeared after checking grounds but then o2 sensor codes popped up instead. While switching out a tie rod, I noticed the parking lights were still lit - I had key in hand and lights were off, and upon opening door we got the loud "bings". After tearing apart the door and unhooking door sensors that all checked out, as I sat thinking, the lights went out. After putting the door back together, the lights stayed out. However, the HVAC blower fan doesn't run at all (regardless of speed), the defrost button doesn't work, and the cruise control doesn't work either (all of which worked previously). Anyone have same problem or ideas? Back to BCM? A GM host?
