Looking at old alero gls hi mileage 108k but beautiful shape.....any words of wisdom what to check out or think about before buying ?

yes, take it to a shop and pay them go full go over it prior to buying.

if its the V-6 make sure they check the lower intake manifold gasket...it is a very common porblem for these to leak..
