abs

Hello, I own a 2004 Alero V6. When I turn my wheels slowly hard to the right I can hear a thump. Today while driveing down main street I was pulling up to a red light and I could feel my ABS kicking in vary little, And this was on dry pavement. A minute or 2 after that my "service engine soon", "ABS" and "trac Cont." lights all came on at once.

Anyone know what could be the problem.

Thank you
B.mattie

The most common causes of all those lights are wiring to the wheel speed sensor at the hub, or the hub bearing going bad and damaging the wheel speed sensor.
Check for corrosion/water/bad connections at each of the hubs. There are only two wires going to each hub. Unplug them and look carefully at the connector. While you are under there, look at the wires themselves for breaks or worn out insulation. Pay close attention to anywhere the wires route near suspension or steering parts, and anywhere they flex. You are most likely to find breaks in the wires coming from the front hubs, as they flex the most.
An ABS capable scan tool can tell you which hub is the bad one, but not everyone has the right scanner. It will also not determine if it is a hub problem or a wiring problem.
Let us know what you find.

I had that same issue in October, speed sensor went in drivers side front. Have to replace the whole hub. Just last month it happened again too same side. Lucky me the part is warrantied for a year or two.
