anti lock and trac off sign...also noise from brake pedal

I just recently put new wheel bearing hubs on my 2 front wheels because they were bad. But the anti lock and trac off sign is still coming on and whenever I press the brakes when I first start the car there's a loud "urrrrrrrrrrr" sound coming from the brakes which doesnt allow me to stop. It finally stops when the anti lock and track off sign comes on but then the brakes start to grind...I know I can't have bad brakes because I just put new rotors and brakes on all 4 tires this past september...I dont know what 2 do and tired of spending all of this money...

p.s. the car is a 2001 olds alero

You did something that is interfering with the proper operation of the ABS system. I'm guessing you had to unplug the sensors when you replaced the hubs (I did on my S10 but it could be a different procedure for you). Did you make sure to plug them back in? If so are you sure the wires didn't get pinched at some point?
You need to get in there are inspect everything before you try and drive it again. The grinding is a bad thing for sure.

I agree, it sounds like either one of your new bearings is bad or something happened during re-assembly.

This same problem has happened to my wife in her 2003 Alero, only she has not had the grinding sound. If she stops and shuts off the engine and re-starts it they go out. only to come on again at a random time. Does anyone know where to start looking? I have posted a blog question on justanswer.com , but anything will be greatly appreciated.

FYI: I did replace both hubs back a few thousand miles or so. But this is a new problem. Is there a module that decodes data from those sensors? (an encoder), if so where is it located and how do I test it?
