I''ve got an 2001 alero V6. Both my back speakers are blown so I bought some new ones that are supposed to fit. The new speakers are also 3x more wattage so I thought they would have a lot more bass. Anyway, the old speakers had 2 sets of wires going to them. One to the tweeter and one to the driver. My new speakers only have one set. How would you wire this correctly?

I tried just wiring all the positives together and all the negatives together but it didn''t work. All it did was make the wires get real hot. Now one set of wires does work, but the other does not when I try wiring them independently. So I just left the pair that does work wired. However, there is very little or almost no bass coming out of them. My feeling is that the pair that works went to the tweeter on the old speaker since there''s no bass coming out of the speaker.

I''m trying to find out how you can wire this correctly. Can anyone help me figure this out?
