The sensors are in the wheel bearings. They don''t read tire pressure, the go by rotating. When one tire is low it will spin a little bit slower then the others thus the low tire pressure light comes one.

Does this hold true for the 2002 Alero??

I''m buying my daughter a 2nd set of wheels for summer tires and haven''t been able to find anything on wheel sensors.

Yes all the Aleros 99-04 were the same for the wheel pressure sensors.

This is a common occurance whenever you rotate tires on the Alero. Just check the pressures, and reset the sensor. As rusty said, there is no actual pressure sensor. The tire pressure is computed based on the wheel speed, as detected by the wheel speed sensor in each hub. This speed value is also used to trigger activation of the ABS and traction control systems.

The wheel speed sensor is built into the hub, and is not replaceable without replacing the hub.
