so i have 18" enkei or-52s on my 99 alero and went to tire shop to get rotated started driving an then sensor went on i brought it back an had them check for leaks. there was no leaks and i tried the reset button but its still on does that mean my sensors are bad an if so where are they cause they arent in the valve stem.

The sensors are in the wheel bearings. They don''t read tire pressure, the go by rotating. When one tire is low it will spin a little bit slower then the others thus the low tire pressure light comes one.

Does this hold true for the 2002 Alero??

I''m buying my daughter a 2nd set of wheels for summer tires and haven''t been able to find anything on wheel sensors.

Yes all the Aleros 99-04 were the same for the wheel pressure sensors.

This is a common occurance whenever you rotate tires on the Alero. Just check the pressures, and reset the sensor. As rusty said, there is no actual pressure sensor. The tire pressure is computed based on the wheel speed, as detected by the wheel speed sensor in each hub. This speed value is also used to trigger activation of the ABS and traction control systems.

The wheel speed sensor is built into the hub, and is not replaceable without replacing the hub.

Much better explanation of how it works then the way I put it.
