Valvoline claims that "Mobil 1 5W-30 does not meet minimum API SM or ILSAC GF-4 specification because of its inferior performance in the Sequence IVA wear test. That means Mobil 1 5W-30 cannot meet basic GM, Ford, Chrysler or Honda specifications. Which would void the warrenty on you car, that is if you have one.

ExxonMobil''s response, "We would like you to know that whilewe are aware of Valvoline''s assertions, ExxonMobil stands behind the quality of Mobil 1 and all of our lubes products. ExxonMobil''s GF 4 licenses for all product lines are valid."

Now ExxonMobil denied Valvoline''s claim, they just stated they still have the GF 4licenses. Now I''m sure if I would have read more into it I could tell you what the GF 4 licenses consist of. I do know that GM, Corvette, Ford, and Crysler all use Mobil 1 as a factory fill oil. The Sequence IVA test, this is what Valvoline claims Mobil 1 failed, measures a motor oil''s ability to inhibit camshaft wear.

This is what oil does when it doesn''t pass the test.www.ilma.org/resources/impact_lowqualityoils.pdf
