pontiac ram air 3400 in 2000 alero?

hi, i have been having some major issues with the 2.4l 4cyl in my 2000 olds alero. i was wondering how possible it would be to put a 3400 engine and tranny out of a grand am gt would be? i have a 5 speed standard now but i'd like to change it over to an automatic. is this project possible or worth it?

thanks

Its possible. If you really want to do I will give you some tips.
1. Get the wiring harness for the 3400, without this it will be hell.
2. Get the PCM and BCM out of the car that the motor is coming out of. This will make your life easier and will save you money. Other wise you will be going to the dealership to get both reprogammed.
I'm not sure if the CV shafts are the same length so you better grab those too.
I'm sure there is a lot more things that I can't think of right now.

ok thanks alot, i thought it should be possible because the alero 3400 and the pontiac one should be pretty much the same motor? but personally i think the pontiac 3400 will wipe the alero 3400.

Well the 3400 in the Alero is the same 3400 in the Grand am. The Grand am is rated at 5 more hp but I highly dought it has 5 more, the engines are idenical in every way.
