Hey everyone. Im the new guy and I have a problem with my 04 Alero. Heres the story...........
Cars been pretty good to me until one day I go out and it will not start(crank, crank, crank, no turnover). I get it towed and 600 bucks later I have a new fuel pump and a fresh inspection sticker. Car runs fine for approx 3 days. I go out and (crank, crank, crank, no turnover). SAME EXACT THING. I get it towed and the mechanic says its a security problem (which i believe because i noticed the security light going on and off for a little while now). He explains that the car thinks its being stolen and/or it doesnt recognize the key. It was going to be another 500 bucks to replace the ignition switch and tumbler.I said I couldnt do it right now due to money and he explains that I can do a temp bypass on the security problem. If the car doesnt start he says to leave the key on for 10 minutes and the car will "relern" and may or may not start. It has been fine for 2 days now but I am worried about getting stranded somewhere.
Is there anything I can do to permantley disable this security junk?? Or maybe someone has some other suggestion. Any help will be greatly appreciated. THANKS IN ADVANCE!!
