Hello everyone. I have a 2002 Alero GL4 door v6 with 110,000 on the ticker. teh service engine soon light came on and so i ran over to Autozone and had them scan it for me. the code was something to do with coolant temp out of range. since this happened, the temp gauge is always reading low. anyone have this problem before? i am thinking it could be the temp sensor. it appears to be on the driver side top of the engine right in front.

The sensors tend to get gunked up, then read wrong. I hear its not a very hard job to change one, but you will spill some antifreeze, so have some handy...

It could also be a stuck t-stat. I had one stick open on me and it throw a code. I can't remember what the code was though.

it was warmer this weekend and the temp guage ran about normal. just a hair below the halfway mark. this leads me to believe that it is most likely a stuck open t-stat. anyone do this job before? last one i did was on my old f150. top front and center two bolts off and on.

Its pretty easy to do. Its right below throttle body. When I did mine I took of the throttle body and the heat shield from the exhaust pipe. Hope this helps.
