GM had a recall on the falsher switch in some year Aleros. I think 99,00,01, but not sure. You can call a GM dealership and give them your VIN number and they can tell you if it is under recall. If so its no cost to you.

If you are not covered, it''s not too hard to replace the hazard light switch, which is the problem. Let us know what the dealer says. I think I''ve got the service bulletin showing the replacement if you need it.

well the friendly local stealership started off by saying I had to find an olds dealer.....which shoulda been my first sign....after I if they could give me the address of such a dealership they realized their error....but of course my cars isn''t covered seams the recall only covers up to 2001 mines a 2002......but according to the service writer it''s doing the exact same thing and must be my early build date.....but still not covered.....i didn''t even ask what they wanted to fix it......so it''s the hazard switch huh......does it just pop out and unplug?

Its held in from the back side of the dash by 2 bolts, 7 or 8mm. You can get to them by taking out the center vent and the gauge cluster.

According to the bulletin (04098A dated Jan 2006) certain 2002 Aleros within VIN breakpoints 2C100001 to 2C321946 are covered. The dealer should replace the hazard light switch at no cost to you. The part number is 10359040.

If you want a copy of this bulletin (which includes replacement instructions) PM me you email address.

Front wheel bearing tend to go out quite often, front brake rotors warp often under 20K miles, window regulator are crap, 3400 V6 99-02 or 03 lower intake manifold gasketsfail. They changed the gasket in 03 I think which GM said took care of the problem. Im sure there are more problems but I can''t think of them off the top of my head.

In my 01 the only real problem I have had was the intake manifold gasket leaking and two weeks later I blew out a head gasket.

I have an 01 and have changed 3 window regulators. Before I got the car at least 2 were changed. It''s a 30 minute job if you''ve done it before, but a new regulator is around $135.

All of those other problems are reasonably common, but well known by now, however, I haven''t had any of them (so far!).

As for the brake rotors, GM in general has had lousy fronts since at least ''95, if not before. Definitely do not put OEM rotors back on after yours warp.

Overall, considering the price, myAlero has been a pretty good car.
