I have a 1996 Aurora with 92K miles. The recommended interval for changing spark plugs is 100K miles according to the service manual. The car runs great and no sign of poor performance or misfire. My question is to those who have changed plugs at or about this miliage or beyond. Have you had any problem with removing without stripping threads from the heads? How many miles have you gone beyond the 100K recommended without having problems related to performance? If you have replaced plugs did you use anti-seize on the new ones?

Thanks for any insight.

HI ; MY OLDSMOBILE CURRENTLY HAS 146K MILES AND THE SPARK PLUGS WERE CHANGED AT 100K, THE MECHANIC CHANGED THEM SO I HAVE NO IDEA OF ANTI-SIEZE. I AM CURRENTLY RECIEVING 23.5 MPG. AND HAVE RECIEVED 25.4 ON A TRIP. WHY WAIT? THIS IS A GREAT ENGINE ( 4.0 ) DONT ABUSE IT IN ANY WAY. GOOD LUCK...

ilikecars,

Thanks for the reply. Would you mind telling me what you were charged for changing the plugs. It''s more than a just minor job.
