1994 Cutlass Conv., how to replace window
The window motor has some rivets that are bucked from the inside of the assembly with two of the rivets in back of the window assemblysprocket (drives the window). The geared sprocket is attached to the glass assemby but the plastic rain shield blocks full view. The window motor has a gear that drives the assembly sprocket.
No I'm afraid I'll break the window or something so I'm sending itto my mechanic who is an X GM tech. There's some way to get the window off the track that's attached to the regulator but it's mystery for now. The mechanic wasn't sure about replacing the quarter window motor because it's so uncommon. If someone replies to this thread that's familar with this repair, and can provide instructions, I'll give the repair a try. I brought this car a few months ago as a fun/project car. But, everything on this car takes a PHd to repair. I'm $1100 into a $2000 purchase. But, as I've read on many post for the 94 cutty convert...I'm hooked on it's look and ride!
I might have to do the Same on my car as well.
Not at the moment but a little later.
In the process of replacing the top motor and fixing all the top leaks.
If I get to it and get it done I will post the instructions from there. I know it will be a little late but someone else will be able to use it later.
I got a Deal on mine from my Brother I bought it for $500.00 and Now am in about $300.00 into it but have a long way to go.
The $300.00 is for the top motor,Service manuals, and alarm system.
If you want to take a look at mine check it out here http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2435107
Pics are a little Dark but going to take somemore and add them.
Good News...I figured out how to remove the regulator assembly and the motor. And, have replaced the motor and installed the assembly.
I'm disappointed that I didn't here from anyone (forum folks) who had experience doing this repair. I'm also surprised that a local mechanic (X GM tech for 15 yrs) didn't have experience with this repair, but that's another story!
If anyone needs to know how to do this repair post a request and I'll provide the details. I learned some important steps that should make the repair doable by the average home mechanic.
When I am ready I will post the quiestion.
I agree I am slightly disappointed as well. I have asked a couple of quiestions as well and haven't gotten any answers as well.
Hopefully as we both work on our cars we can help each other out.
Today I will be replacing the conv. top motor. So if you need to know anything about that I will be able to help you after today.
