72Cutlass Maintenance (Drive staying in Neutral)

-Won't move in drive, remains in neutral state, have to manually shift 1st, 2nd , 3rd
What could be a possible reason for this? It's a dual gate shifter
-Replace broken clock gauge with RPM gauge
Could I run the car to a local mechanic and get this done? Where could I order a gauge for RPM for a 72 supreme, and sensor
-Fixed Gauges for Gas/Engine Temp
There's only 1 needle in the gauge that shows brake/engine/fuel and it will need 3 as well as fixed sensors, how is this done

If any of these issues can be resolved I'd be happy

Something sounds fishy with the shifter, make sure it's adjusted properly. Try bring it down into 1st and move the shift into drive from there and see if the transmission shift normally.

I'm guessing that the shifter was a transplant that didn't originally come in the car so you need to make sure everything was installed correctly.

I don't understand the issue with the gauges. Is the fuel level gauge not functioning properly? If not there could be an issue with either the fuel level sender in the tank, or with the gauge it self. If you're not that good with electrical problems it might be best to have a qualified mechanic take a look at it. Just make sure he is familiar with older cars.
