94 Cutlass Ciera S 3.1 to 3.8?

I have a 94 Cutlass Ciera S with 135,xxx. The entire car is stock. i was thinking about eventually putting a 3.8L in it. Maybe sometime in the future. Do you guys know if this will work out? Right now the cars has the 3.1L its fine and all but im thinking of rebuilding the 3.8L engine. let me know what you guys think. thanks
