Buying 74 cutlass but oil light is on?

Hey everyone. Im going to look at a 74 cutlass tomorrow. He says the oil light is on...

He doesn't know how many miles are on the motor but he did do new heads recently.

He also said if he changes the oil the light stays on.

Car also runs fine...

What do you guys think? Maybe a bad oil pump and if so is that hard to fix? It has a 350...

I would bring a mechanical oil pressure gauge and hook it up. That way you can confirm good oil pressure and that the engine is in good shape. The sending unit could be bad and that would leave the light on all the time. This is the only way to confirm that without a new sender.

Yeah, I think its the pump. Its not actually hard to fix an oil pump and it is also depend on what you want to do, I mean you may try to just restore it and fix the old one or replace it.

5 month old thread. I would like to know what came of it myself.
