i am pretty sure a calais is in the cutlass family, or thats at least what wikipedia lead me to believe. i was wondering if any one had any knowledge on specifically the 1987 calais 2door coupe(specail edition?). i have 2.5L 4 cylinder engine, i was wondering if any one could explain to me (noob) if thats a good engine, or more importantly a fast one. if any one could give me any idea as to the general quality of this car is assumeing its been maintained.

sorry if this sounds vauge or just plain dumb i very new to cars and dont know how to ask what i want to know. any help would be much appercaited.

The '87 Cutlass Calais (FWD) was a fairly reliable car. The 2.5 litre engine (nicknamed the IRON DUKE) was a very reliable engine of it's time. As far as being a fast one.... no, not at all.
