You have to remove the key warning buzzer. It's held in place by a flat spring keeper. You slide it and the buzzer piece out of the column. It's located at about the 2 o'clock position from the center of the column.

If memory serves, I believe either behind that key warning buzzer switch or in another thing slot near the inside of the tumbler, you insert a small punch or a thin flat blade screwdriver and have to push in on a locking ring on the tumbler. AT the same time you pull out on the tumbler.

I know sometimes that thin slot is covered with casting flash from when the column is made originally.

@biglue - if I get it right, I should pinch the area around the copper leads and find a very thin area I can penetrate to slide the screwdriver in?

@svnt442 - sure you can connect us, if he is willing to pay for shipping both side I will consider a swap.

No, you have to completely remove the key warning buzzer and retaining strip. They must be out before the tumbler can be removed.

Also, I believe the area to depress the retaining ring for the tumbler is in a different slot. Not sure if it's okay to post a link but here is a site that should have the info you need.

http://www.chevelles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=300526

about 2/3rds of the way down the page is a pic that should be helpful.

@Bigblue- as long as you are not advertising or posting unrelated links, post away!
