As the Title states I am the proud owner of a 1983 Cutlass wagon,
I am going to pick it up next week. I purchased the supposidly rust free 2 owner car for $300.00 with a bad 3.8 buick V-6. My plans are to install the slightly modified 1980 3.8 (High volume oil pump kit, performer cam/intake Q-jet, duel exaust) out of my old Monza coupe. It will be my daily driver/ parts/dog hauler to replace my 77 Buick Century wagon that has served me well for 367,000 miles. My question is does any one know what trans and rear axle came in the base Model V-6 cutlass in 83? I suspect that it is a BOP T-350, with a 7.5" axle with about 2.79 gears. Any info would be greatlly appreciated. This is my 1st Olds, after owning many Pontiac's, Buick's, and a few old Chevy's & Caddy's. Jeff R |
Just a thought...an Olds 350 is a drop in...and no computer woes... C.J. |
NOTE TO TEXAS RED;;;;; W O W GREAT ADVICE I DIDNT KNOW THAT. SOUNDS LIKE THE WAY TO FLY.....

And I believe the transmission is a 200R4. Same length and size as a TH-350. C.J. |
I would go for an Olds V-8 if I didn't already have a good 3.8
buick, and I don't have to worry about a computor as I never ran one with the Monza i came out of. I can only hope the trans is already a 200R4 as that will save me at least one mod. Thanks for the comments every one. |
