it should be a pretty easy swap, my uncle goes back and forth from pontiac to chevy motors alot in his race car, and to think about it, pontiac, olds and buick used the same blocks alot

I think that would be a difficult swap, i think the 400 is a big block. I also read online that chevy, olds, and pontiacs have too many differences that it would be a hard swap from an olds to something else.

Mark, welcome to the board. I know you want to be involved. But if you don't know, don't guess. You could be causing folks a whole lotta trouble.

Eric, Pontiac and Buick are the easiestGM motorsto swap in. Starter is on the same side and the transmission bolt patterns (not the motors) are the same. But why not stay All-Olds?

P.S. There is no such thing as a "big block" Pontiac.Edited by: texasred
