Default Wheels on 79' Cutlass Calais

We just bought a 79' Cutlass Calais with a 455 in it. The guy took his tires and rims off and put the original olds rims back on it when he sold it.

I was just wondering if the bolt pattern is 4.75 x 5 for sure, becuase that is what i read on the net, and also what most of you would run for wheels and tires for racing/street.

I want to take off the wheels that are on it for now and buy a set that will be good at the track as well as good on the street. With the 455 I was thinking a I want at least a 9" or 10" width on the rear. What do you usually run up front, 8"?

Any suggestions? Good brands? I was looking at the Cragers, and American Racing ones a little bit.

Any input is appreciated.

The bolt pattern is actually listed as 5 X 4.75.
Stick with a 7" on the front and I'm not sure if you'll get a 10" back there without some modification to either the quarter or the frame.

So 7" is stock, alright. I don't want to modify anything, do you think 9" will fit?

OK this weekennd I took the 10" wide wheels that were on my 442 and bolted them up to the Calais to see if they fit. I drove the car down the road and and back and took the tires off. There was a little bit of rub on the frame.

Just so everyone knows...the rear is the 7.5" with an Eaton posi, and 3.08's. Do you think 10" width is too much for this rear? I don't wanna blow it up just yet

I guess what I am looking for is what tire size, and what rim width you guys would run on this car?

I don't care if the tires stick outside of the car, so what offset would get rid of this frame rub?

Is there some sort of spacer that will allow me to run these 10" wide American Racing rims(I forgot to look at the tire size)?

What is a good distance between the edge of the tire and the frame?

I guess I have a lot of questions...haha, thanks for the help...
