If you have a stock points distributor set the initial to 8°-10° @ 1100 RPM with the vacuum advance disconnected and plugged at the source.

If you have swapped in a stock HEI fro a 74-79 then set the initial to 20° @ 1100 RPM with the vacuum advance disconnected and plugged at the source.
