Hello to the forum,

New member here looking for answers about the 96 model Eighty Eight.

I have located a clean 96 with 63k miles at what seems to be a good price. Now I am not an Olds guy but I have owned GM products all my driving years. What I'd like to know is if the 88 is as dependable as other GM models with the 3.8 V6. I never owned a 3.8 but have rented many cars with this engine over the years and they always ran smooth with what to me was good fuel mileage for an engine with the power of the 3.8.

I need a second car for getting around at my winter homeand this 88 looks the part. My concern is more with the suspension system. I own 2 SLS Cadillac's and both have had trouble with the suspension that cost more to repair than the carsare worth. I've been told some models of Oldsmobile's have the same suspension as the Cadillac. Can anyone tell me if the 88 is one of the models with the RSS and if there is any other problem areas with this model I should watch for.

Thanks for any help.

I would recommend going to strutmasters.com and checking out the conversion kits there. This is a permanent fix to all your suspension problems. The kit converts you from air to powder coated, American made steel coil springs that are guaranteed to last the life of the car. It is also very inexpensive for a permanent fix. I posted the link below so you can take a look.

Hopefully this will help you out
