<div id="post_message_21438">MY girlfriend has a 96 olds 88 with 80k on
the ticker. Going to work one morning she stopped in to get some coffee, and when she came out the car would not turn over. It has power to everything, it just wont turn over.. So i get the car home and get it up in the air and get my multimeter out to check and see if the starter is getting voltage.. Its getting 12 volts to the big main cable to the starter, but when the key is engaged to start the car there is nothing at the wire going to the solenoid .. So i did the old screw driver trick to and touched the main cable to the solenoid and it turned over and started .. but it only ran for about 30 seconds and shut off. I am stumped.. I have checked all the fuses inside and didnt find any bad ones... Any ideas?</div> http://www.oldsmobileforums.com/foru...c/progress.gif |
Sounds like the power antenna or radio wires shorted ( not a speaker ), pull the radio fuse and give it a whirl. Let me know , Jay |
I would take a look at the grounds! We found grounds in 5 different locations accross the raditor support in a 95 cutless , these grounds are part of the wiring loom not the battery ground cable. We cleaned them all up and got everything working again. I f thats not it you know its not the grounds. Let us know what you find. Good Luck.
