G''day I have recently bought a 1971 cutlass with a 350 in it. I bought the car in Perth, Western Australia and drove it to Tom Price, Western Australia 1000 miles north where I live. The car went well and didn''t use a drop of oil or water. It was also in the low 40''s so I was happy. But what i noticed during and after the trip was that every time I went to start the car the fuel had run back from the carby to the fuel pump. I then put a new fuel pump on, but found the same thing happens. When I go for a long drive and then shut down the car. I can pull up the hood and see the fuel run back. As I have a clear fuel filter between the pump and carby I can see the bubbles appear and the fuel run back. I also changed all the old fuel hoses but still this happens. Is this a common problem?Does thefuel pump have a check valve inside? Can I get a check valve/1 way valve for the fuel line? regards Phil |
