Default 1955 oldsmobile 98 radio

Is anyone familiar with a floor mounted switch, very similar to headlight dimmer switch, that was used to change radio stations. My dad had a 1955 2 door holiday 98 and I was talking about this and was told there was no such thing. Please prove me right or wrong. Thanks

There certainly was such a critter. It was called "Wonder Bar." There would have been a bar above the station indicator dial that one pushed. The radio tuner then automatically advanced to the next strongest signal it detected. In addition to the bar above the station dial there was a floor mounted button which performed the same function.

While Chevy may have first offered it in 1957, Cadillac and Oldsmobile had it earlier than that.

Had one in my ‘55, it also had automatic headlight dimmer called “Autronic Eye” I believe. The radio was really fun. As soon as your girl would find a station she liked, it would mysteriously change.😉
