in need of help bad
 

ok here it goes i have a 98 olds intrigue gl it has the l36 3800 series 2 engine and i have replaced all of the cooling system to get this thing to stop over heating i can't seem to get all of the air out of it i can't afford a mechanic my dad is but has never dealt with this type of problem before i am sure at least one of you have please give me some ideas of the best way to bleed the coolant system

Park it on a hill or ramps with the nose up and remove the radiator cap. Then start the car, turn the heat on and wait. That's about all I can come up with.

I assume you are trying to bleed it using the bleeder port on top of the thermostat housing?
The recommended procedure is to fill the radiator, and the reservoir to the full cold line. Reinstall the radiator cap, then turn the heater on full, and start the engine. Open the bleeder port, allowing air/coolant to bubble out until you get a solid stream of coolant. Close the port, refill reservoir to full hot mark.
In my experience, you may have to do this several times over several days to get all the air out. You will know all the air is out when you no longer hear a bubbling sound behind the dash after shutting the engine off.

Are you certain your new thermostat is opening at 200 degrees? Does the upper radiator hose going to the thermostat get hot? Is your radiator cap a 15 psi cap, and is it leaking? Do the fans come on when the car overheats?
