I just purchased my first restoration project and may already be in over my head. I want to save the engine and transmission in this car due to all numbers match. The problem is the motor is frozen solid. and the last guy to own the car lost the head bolts, the water pump and the radiator. is there any way to save thihs motor?

You would have to tear the motor apart and find out whats wrong with it. Do you know how it froze up? No oil, broken conecting rod, broken crank?

The guy I bought it from said it was running but had a blown head gasket.
he took off everything to work on it then got sick. he left the hood and head cover off the car and the back three cylenders filled with water. there is a little rust in the cylinder wall but not enough to freeze it solid I think there may be more to it. I'm afraid to pull it apart and not be able to find the gaskets needed to put it back together. |
the front 2 or 3 cylinders are full of absolutly clean motor oil and there arn't any leaks anywhere to be found the back three had white sludge oil water and leave and pine needles in them
