Need some help I change my distribitor from points to hei brought the car to tdc put it back in did the firing order correct counter clockwise and all it does is crank and nothing else and sometimes backfire. HELP

Sounds like you are 180 out, ensure you got fire, Pull #1 plug, find compression stroke, check crank, check dist at #1, set slightly before TDC, have helper turn it over, and slightly move dist.

I got it started the distribitor I got was bad I got one from summit drop it in and started right up dont buy a cheap one buy a good one the first time and be done with it .

That sucks, which brand was it? I have a MSD ive had for a while that i am gonna use. Have had it for years. What did you set your timing at? Joe Mondello built my heads about 15 years ago 1970, stock heads 350, he probably got 50-70 more hp out of them. I run full advance. Glad you got it taken care of.

it was a pro comp dist so I got a summit and it started right up as for my timing I set it at 8deg it runs great I will add headers and new intake and carb and cam and then see what I got
