1992 Oldsmobile Cutlass Dashboard Problem
 

The instrument panel on my 1992 Cutlass Supreme blinks off and on. Alot of time it won't display at all and then some of the time it will all light up, as if the fuel gauge is full, etc.

Sometimes if I bang on the top of the dashboard it will get it to work and the fuel gauge will read right and I can see what speed I'm going. I have no problem replacing the entire display unit, but I don't want to do that and find out it is a wiring issue instead.

It's more than likely the printed circuit board in the cluster, could be a loose wiring connection, but not likely. If it's easy enough for you to r&r it, take it out, look at the connectors, tighten the pins, and put some dielectric grease in the connector. If it still screws up, it's the cluster.
