2003 Silhouette OBD code P0446
Hi,
We just bought a 2003 Silhouette last week. The car is in great condition with low mileage and drives like a dream; however, the Check Engine Soon light came back on about 4 days after we bought it. I say came "back" on because we had asked the previous owner to get the engine light fixed before we would buy the car. I told him I didn't think the car would pass smog inspection with the light on. He brought the car to his mechanic the next day to fix it and he got a successful smog inspection. He also gave us the replaced part - a small diameter hose about 2 feet long. The car still runs and drives great; however, I'd like to get the engine light and diagnostic code fixed.
I am not totally sure the trouble code is the same now as when we first saw the car, but I suspect it is because the former owner had mentioned he had been advised the trouble had something to do with a smog code indicating an evap or vacuum leak.
I checked with an OBDII diagnostic tool and found the current code to be P0446. Investigating on the web, reports are suggesting this is caused from either a bad evap canister solenoid or valve. Is this something I can easily try to fix myself? Where is this located on the 2003 Silhouette?
Thanks!
