Default '68 toronado 455 match with a Standard tranny?

I'm taking yall's advice with my '68 cutlass and I'm going to keep the motor Oldsmobile. However, my cutlass came with a 3 speed manuel and the motor I found is a 455 out of a '68 toronado. Will this motor work with my manuel tranny even though a standard tranny was not avaiable on the '68 toronado? I've heard some thoughts about the crankshaft on the 455 not allowing a standard tranny's pilot bearing. Before I buy this great motor I guess I'm just checking with someone......thanks!

There are a couple ways to make it work. The best way would be to have the pilot hole in the crank machined to the pilot bearing/bushing. The other way would require the use of an adapter bushing in the crank, but you would need to shorten the input shaft on your trans.

Being that the 455 is going on 42 years old I would suggest tearing it down anyway and to replace what needs to be replaced. That would be the perfrdt time to have the crank machined.
