Crankshaft Removal
I've got a 99 Olds LSS with a 3.8L V6 (VIN Code K) that needs to have the crankshaft turned. My questions are... (1) Can the crank be removed without pulling the engine from the car?, (2) Will I need any specialized tools to remove it?, (3) Generally, is it better (cheaper) to have the crank turned, or buy a reconditioned crank?
I really need a reasonably inexpensive solution for a car that is only worth about $3K. (BTW its for sale! LOL) Thanks in advance. |
Just curious, have you priced a replacement engine?
I would contact Ed Morad, http://www.moradpartscompany.com/ I am sure he will have what you need, and he will treat you right. |
it would be overal easier to remove the engine from the car than to do it in the car, if you got the remanufactured kit for example from autozone it would only be a couple hundred bucks
