cutlass cruiser question
 

I have an 89 cutlass cruiser, I might need to replace the engine will know for sure when I can look at it this weekend. so I am looking for info just incase I have to replace it. my question is: I have an 89 sable with a 3800 but the tranny is shot, will this 3800 work in the cruiser? I was reading somewhere that the 3800 was one of the engine options for that year. if this is true would it bolt up to the cruisers tranny or would I also have to change the tranny? if need be I have all the wiring and ecu for the 3800. any help, suggestions greatly appreciated. thank you
