Forgot camshaft tray/cover
 

Can anyone tell me if you can get away with not using the metal strip that covers the cam in the lifter galley on a '68 Olds 400? My genius buddy who restores Oldsmobiles and helped me install the intake let me forget about ithttp://forums.aaca.org/images/smilies/frown.gif. This is my first go around rebuilding an Olds. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you, Jay

I suspect he meant assembly lube for when you initially put the engine back together.
As far as a break-in oil, I have always used the same oil I will continue to use throughout the life of the engine - and with good results.
