front end
FOR front end R&I: i.e., R&I on
[loaded] LCA/(outer) tie rod/strut (assembly)/sway linkage; In addition to sawing/cutting off the rusted-shut bolt on the outer tie rod, I'm finding only ONE cut (angle-grinder or sawz-all) of the rusted bolt on the sway link required. It was a LONG day and beings the LCA being REPLACED we needed NOT remove it (the link) from the LCA, only the sway bar. Duh, ... Two items couldn't do without: NUMERO UNO: 18-24'' rubber bungee cords - two of them actually was best one for supporting the brake assembly during the process and another for supporting (i.e., hanging) the hub/knuckle assembly at one point. NUMERO DOS: a very LARGE *T55* (torx) to keep the LCA through-bolt from spinning against its 13/16'' head. For the process, am pretty sure that the 7/8'' and 13/16'' (both wrench and socket) and 8mm and 18mm wrench and 15mm socket covers almost everything else though I've a 13mm end wrench looks like maybe gets used as well. Of course the 36mm (deep well) and breaker bar for the hub/axle nut. Also looks like a DEEP WELL 13/16'' socket was required. ... unsure if my post from the other day actually posted but this/these will be tidied/cleaned up and perhaps consolidated maybe. Maybe will be added/incorporated into a post/thread called 'W-body FRONT END general service' or something similar. |
MY APOLOGIES;
I was sorta in the middle and nearing the end of the R&I AND There was another post that went along w/ this one that got 'lost in the fray' AND So therefore before I can retrieve the rest of the info that went along w/ this the 'front end' post of mine is essentially useless. I'LL GET 'ER ALL PATCHED-TOGETHER ASAP! AND FOR SURE THE 36mm deep well socket is NOT required. |
