Hood latch problems 1977 442 Cutlass
 

Anyone ever had issues with a 1976/77 hood latch working sometimes holding the hood down lower depending on how hard they shut the hood? My 77 442 will latch lower when I shut the hood hard and not as low when shutting the hood easy. Maybe a defective latch or possibly a repair is necessary. Maybe even a latch from another GM model with a different mechanism? I'm stumped at this point of any solution except to shut it hard every time.:confused:
