How Do I Retrieve Engine Codes

I have a 2002 Aurora V-6 that has the check engine light on. How do I go about retrieving the code and does anyone have a list of what the codes mean?

Take it to Auto Zone. They'll scan it for free and give you a little print out of the code and what it means.
