I own a 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue GL. Lately on cold mornings it won't start right away. Sometimes I'll spend 10 minutes trying to start it and then come back to it in 5 to 10 and it starts right up. I've got plenty of battery but it doesn't turn over or anything. All I hear is a click when i turn the key and if I listen under the hood I hear a sound like fluid is moving followed by repetitive light clicks. I'm thinking its the starter but was wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem and if so, what was the problem.


I've only had this problem on cold mornings. Every other time it has started right away. I also ran it last winter without any troubles.

FIRST THING I WOULD CHECK WOULD BE THE BATTERY CONNECTION , EITHER LOOSE CONNECTIONS OR CORRODED CONNECTION.

I know you write you have plenty of battery, but you should check it anyway with a digital voltmeter to see where it is no load and while the key is turned-starter pulls alot of amps and if it is at all deficent it'll show up in cold weather. If when cranking (or clicking) it drops below 11 volts, either the battery is bad or the starter is drawing too much. Good luck.
