Vinny1930,

I have found that several of my cars with fuel injection are slow to
start if their injectors have the least bit of corrosion or need
cleaning. With a good injector cleaner (even works on carbureators)
they clean up and do a better job of "spraying" and igniting.
That might be part of the solution. Give it a try...even STP is not all
that bad a cleaner, but there are some "higher powered" ones that the
autoparts store might suggest.

Good luck!

Bill

I HAVE SEEN WHERE RUBBER HOSE BETWEEN FUEL PUMP AND FUEL SENDER GETS SMALL HOLE NO LETTING FUEL PRESSURE BUID CORRECTLY CAUSING A LONG CRANK OR THE CHECK VALVE IN FUEL PUMP GOES BAD CAUSING SAME PROBLEM , CAN BE CHECKED WITH FUEL PRESSURE GAUGE IF VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE REST PRESSURE

CHECK THERE FIRST

just changed the spark plugs in my 98 eighty eight with 76k miles. It has the 3800 V6. Before, it would take 5-10 seconds to start, but now it fires up right away. Cheap and easy way to try first.Edited by: 98olds88
