so i ordered a TCI stater compact high torque, in my 1972 cutlass supreme, put it in , starts but grinds , used shims, used no shims , , could it be they sent wrong starter, the gear lines up but is up higher on flywheel unlike old one which is lower by a 1/4 inch or so. take in mind last time i worked on a classic was in 2000, yes i know ha ha , also my headers are so big that i have to remove them to install and remove starter , not the compact one
